FORTS DE DOUAUMONT ET DE VAUX
Discovery of the Great War battle sites leaves the visitor in a stunned state. Despite nature timidly reclaiming its rights, the durably bruised landscape imposes silence.
How to « develop » access to such a monument? Do we speak of « tourism » or even visitors? Everything here is beyond the « heritage » codes. However, if this place is not to be visited, it should imperatively be seen, strolled, felt deep within our humanity. Here, we do not speak of landscape nor architecture, we only accompany the shock of discovery, propose the very simple supports for the commentaries and pathways accessible for all. We should let go, remain silent.••
