European Cultural Heritage Prize / Europa Nostra Competition 2015
The agency is pleased to announce that the restoration project of Les Halles du Boulingrin in Reims is the winner of the 2015 European Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, conservation category.
« In awarding an award to Les Halles Boulingrin de Reims, the jury first paid tribute to the courage of the 25-year-old decision to save this outstanding example of the 20th century’s commercial architecture and reinforced concrete construction. The complex and painstaking repair work not only restored the original energy of the design, but also reinstated the original functions of the market, bringing a new dynamic life not only to the concrete structure e Maigrot and Freyssinet, but also to all the surrounding neighborhood. «
The last distinction of a French project in this category, by this prestigious award, dates back to 2011. This year, 263 files were submitted. Specialized panels of independent experts selected 28 laureates in four categories: conservation, research and digitization, exemplary contribution to heritage, and education, training and awareness. The award ceremony will take place in Oslo on Thursday, 11 June, in the presence of European cultural figures.This prestigious award encourages us to continue our approach and our reflection on the restoration and revaluation of the heritage of the twentieth century. It is also the recognition of a collaborative and prospective work with all the speakers of this project, and in particular the services of the French State in charge of the historical monuments and the city of Reims, master of the work.
